Many teachers are now opting to do a job share as this may allow them to continue teaching but on a part time basis. This is often great for parents who have young children at home, people who are nearing retirement and want to slow down a little or for those that have extra responsibilities like looking after ill or elderly relatives. Doing a job share can be great but there are times when you may find it quite hard. You may not get a choice as to who you job share with and there may be times when you are put with someone who has a very different way of working to you. You may find that this causes issues from time to time and that it is very hard to get the jobs done that need doing.
If you do not know your job share you may find that it takes a while to get to know what they are good at and what their personality is like. It may be that you are worried about coming across too bossy or taking over too much but then on the other hand you could worry about not doing enough to help.
Often you need to be able to have a straight conversation with your job share. Being open and honest with each other is the best way to be to ensure that the children get great teachers and all the work is covered.
