Motivating children to learn

In this current climate of immediate internet access, teachers are faced with a dilemma. Do they continue to teach using tried and tested methods or do they adapt their teaching and embrace new technologies which some say motivate children to learn more effectively.

As a teacher, one of your responsibilities is to motivate children to learn. Therefore anything that makes this possible is to be encouraged. In general, boys especially need a more visual approach to learning, so on screen activities become more attractive. Often activities involve gaming and the competitive element of these is especially popular with male pupils.

Some children are motivated by seeing their work in print and so using a publishing package to present their work neatly and with illustrations can be a powerful way of motivating the pupils.

At the end of the day a pupil will learn more effectively if they are motivated so it is without doubt of benefit to their learning to use any available technology’s that will aid this.
