Often we all have a period out of work for some reason or other. This may be due to maternity / paternity leave, raising children, illness or unemployment due to dismissal or redundancy.
Once you have been out of work for some time, it can be challenging not only physically but mentally becoming employed again. It may be that you have fallen behind in the qualifications / experience you need to go back in to the industry you were working in, or possibly that your personal circumstances have changed. If you want to return to employment but are concerned about how to go about it, try and speak to careers advisor. They can look at your circumstances, qualifications and past employment and make recommendations of what may be suited to you.
Becoming self employed may be an option as this often gives people the flexibility that they need and can allow people to structure their own work load, sometimes easing yourself back in gentally.
