When you are looking for a primary school for your child to attend it can be a bit of a daunting process with many parents feeling ill equipped to make a decision that could change your child’s life forever.
The first thing to check is which catchment area you are in. this is based on where you live and will give you a list of school within your area that would accept an application form from you.
Once you have the list its time to start to compare the schools and to do this you can start by looking up the schools ofsted reports. These can be found on each schools website and will give an overall rating of the school as well as a more detailed breakdown of information on the schools overall performance.
The next thing to look at are the schools league tables, these show previous levels that students at the school achieved for exams such as SATS and can give an overall impression of what is the average achievement for students at the school.
It’s also important to visit the schools and meet the staff so that you can get a feel for the ethics upheld by the school and the staff and get an impression of the daily environment that your child will be in.
